Thesis: A Better La exist to serve trouble communities within central Los Angeles which have been plagued by gang violence and urban decay. This organization works to better these communities by lowering crime rate and working closely with the kids and families within the community.

A. Stopping the violence by decreasing gang activity and recruiting within the area and around schools as well as incorporating ex-ganger members in communication efforts. By decreasing rivalry tension certain areas have seen a reduction of violence by 43%.
B. There is a strong emphasis on community and schoolwork. ABLA helps fund a number of counseling centers and after school programs. I was able to personally experience their “safe passage” they provide to and from school for over 1400 juinor high students.
Thesis: Contrary to conventional belief, the success of McDonald restaurants in East Asian societies is not a symbol of American imperialism; in fact, the fast food chain was only able to globalize as a result of adapting to the cultures of the individual society.

The restaurant physically is different from U.S. McDonald's, including its menu. 3. Localization of the American experience (McDonald's) and National Identity.

Thesis: Created as a result of social and economic oppression in urban areas during the late 70s/early 80s, hip hop is both a cultural and musical outlet of artistic expression and critique of the issues that affect black life.
